Sign-in problems

"Cloud is not configured (missing env vars)"​

This build of Boldbobbin started without cloud settings, so sign-in and cloud features are disabled. The editor, local .vemb saving, importing, and exporting all still work. If you expected cloud features, this is a build/configuration matter rather than something you can fix in the app.

"Please confirm your email first"​

When you sign up, Boldbobbin emails a confirmation link: "Check <email> to confirm your account." You must click it before you can sign in. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive.

Google sign-in didn't work​

  • "Google sign-in failed.": try again.
  • "Couldn't open the sign-in page in your browser.": on desktop, Boldbobbin opens your system browser for Google; make sure a default browser is set, then retry.

Signing in during desktop development​

If you're running an unbundled dev build of the desktop app, the boldbobbin://auth-callback deep link may not route to it. This is a development constraint, not a problem with normal installs.

I signed out and my fonts are gone​

They aren't deleted. A font you make belongs to the account that made it, so signing out hides yours rather than removing them. Sign back in and they come back. Fonts you make while signed out are adopted by whichever account signs in next, since a face made at a signed-out computer is the work of whoever was sitting there.

One thing to expect on the first run after updating: a font that was already backed up waits for your cloud list to load before it appears, because only that list can say whose it is. Give it a moment. See Fonts and lettering.

I forgot my password​

Open the sign-in dialog → Forgot password? → enter your email → Send reset link. If an account exists, a reset email is sent.
